PUBLIC NOTICE – JUNE 2021 COUNCIL VACANCY

TAKE NOTICE that a vacancy exists on the Township of Wollaston Council for one (1) Councillor and that Council has determined to fill the vacancy by appointment in accordance with the Township of Wollaston Council Vacancy Policy.

The term of this position is from the date of Council appointment to November 14, 2022.
A Special Council Meeting to appoint a successful candidate will be held on June 25, 2021 (by electronic means). This date is tentative and could be changed. The Township will post any date change on its website and Facebook page.

A candidate for municipal office must be a qualified municipal elector as set out in the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 and fulfill all of the following requirements:
(a) Eighteen (18) years of age or older; and
(b) A Canadian citizen; and
(c) A resident of the Township of Wollaston, or an owner or tenant of land in the municipality or the spouse of such an owner or tenant; and
(d) Not prohibited from voting under any other Act or disqualified from holding municipal office.

Prior to submitting an application, interested individuals should refer to the Municipal Act, 2001 and the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 for further details relating to the required qualifications.
Any qualified individual may submit, in person with identification, a completed application form along with a signed declaration of qualification by 2:00 p.m. on June 14, 2021 to:
