JANUARY 12, 2024 SIGNIFICANT WEATHER EVENT DECLARED

Significant Weather Event Declared

The Township of Wollaston has declared a significant weather event as per Ontario Reg. 239/02 following the weather alert issued by Environment Canada.

The declaration is being made due to forecasted heavy snow fall Friday evening and Saturday morning, with accumulations up to 3 cm per hour at times. The snow will be followed by quickly cooling temperatures, which may create flash-freezing conditions. Some areas of the Township may experience freezing rain conditions as temperatures fluctuate Saturday morning.

Residents are advised to use caution and are reminded that winter maintenance service levels for roads may not be met.

What is a significant weather event? 👉 A significant weather event is defined as an approaching or occurring weather hazard with the potential to pose a significant danger to users of the highways within a municipality. When hazardous weather is expected, Environment Canada will issue an alert under its Public Weather Alerting Program.

Please slow down and drive according to the weather conditions.
